COMPASSION KENYA YOUTH EDUCATION PROGRAMME is a registered NGO with the relevant Government department registration NO.OP.218/051/15-023/9933.
The organization has been an instrument of hope to poor youth/orphans and vulnerable children in Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Kajiado and Taita Taveta. Counties in supporting in shelter, Health, Psychosocial support and education.
Our major objective is to fight poverty through promotion of education, vocational training and careers to marginalized poor and orphan children/youth.

Our Impact

  • On OVC/Youths we were able to distribute 500 exercise books, pencils, rubbers and mathematical sets to all OVCS and youths who are in various learning institution. School uniforms, home clothes, shoes and sanitary pads were also distributed.
  • On widows/widowers/guardians-We managed to distribute 4 pkts of baking floor and 1 litre of cooking oil and 2 kgs of rice as a Christmas gifts each to 150 guardians. Clothes, shoes and lessos were also distributed to all.
  • We have encouraged all our guardians to form self-help groups in their respective areas and do an activity which will help them economically. We are happy to report that we have 6 self-help groups which they normally meet once per week. They normally do the following activities:-merry go round, table banking, Soil conservation activities and Tree planting

The COKYEP will work together with local community based organization/faith based and self-help groups and other agencies that have the same interest to implement the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) within the communities which include the Eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, achievements of universal basic education, promoting gender equality and empowerment


Thank you for taking time to visit our website, Compassion Kenya Youth education Programme was started in 2006 and registered 2015. .Our major objective is to fight poverty through promotion of education, vocational training and careers to marginalized poor and orphan children/youth. Education is not just a recognized fundamental right: it is a powerful force to make a breakthrough from the cycle of poverty and to bring about change in society.
Compassion Kenya felt the urge to get engaged in providing quality education to vulnerable children from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Our program provides a holistic and multi-disciplinarian approach to strengthen the capacity of families and communities to empower them for sustainable development.We have our board members who are well experienced in project management and leadership. Our organization has been implementing awareness activities in Makueni County targeting adolescents and youth in and out of schools. It has well set organizational structured with professional and experienced staff in the field of vocational skills trainings and mature interests, well set tools.

We have adopted the Protective Environment frame work which was endorsed in March 2004 by the UNAIDS Committee of cosponsoring Organization for care and support of orphans and vulnerable children living in a world with HIV and AIDS. The protective Environment Frame work considers families and communities the foundation of an effective scaled up response recognizes the frontline role of Community based organization, and includes children and young people as key partner. The framework put forward five key strategies for care and support to OVC as follows:

  • To strengthen the capacity of families to protect and care for OVC by prolonging the lives of guardians and providing economic, psychosocial and other support.
  • To mobilize and support community based response to provide both immediate and long term support to vulnerable household
  • To ensure access for OVC to essential services including education, health care, shelter.
  • To ensure that governments protect the most vulnerable children through improved policy legislation and by channeling resources to communities.
